  1. This is a pre-pre announcement concerning MailWatch 3.0.  DO NOT EXPECT
  2. TO SEE IT TOMORROW OR THE NEXT DAY!!  I am providing this only as a means
  3. of informing you that MailWatch is undergoing some significant changes.
  4.  
  5. If you do not read anything else, read the following section about new
  6. registration procedures for MailWatch 3.x.
  7.  
  8. New Registration Procedures
  9. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  10. MailWatch 3.x (as well as all other products by Affirmative Computer
  11. Systems) will have a server-specific registration code.  This means that
  12. each registration passcode will be different for each server that MailWatch
  13. is run on.  If you wish to register MailWatch 3.0, you must provide your
  14. file server name (or names) with the registration to receive the appropriate
  15. passcode.

  17. A single copy of MailWatch *CAN* support multiple servers.  To do this, you
  18. must provide a comma delimited list of passcodes in the .INI file that
  19. pertain to each server to be supported.
  20.  
  21. What does this mean to 2.x users?  Nothing except you need to send in your
  22. file server names.  VERSION 3.x is a FREE upgrade for registered users of
  23. 2.x.  You simply need to send email using the following procedures.

  25. REGISTERING YOUR FILE SERVER (those that do not follow this procedure will
  26. more than likely, not receive their passcode).
  27.  
  28. 1. Send an internet mail message via Compuserve or standard internet routings
  29.    to support@affirm.mhs.compuserve.com.
  30. 2. In the subject of the message use the text "MAILWATCH 3.x SERVER REG
  31.    REQUEST".  If at least most of this subject does not exist then the
  32.    request may not be processed.
  33. 3. In the body of the message, follow this syntax:

  35.    Your full name
  36.    Your company name
  37.    Number of copies you registered
  38.    Version 2.x passcode (needed for verification)
  39.    SERVER_1_NAME
  40.    SERVER_2_NAME
  41.    SERVER_3_NAME etc... for all servers you registered.

  43. PASSCODES WILL NOT BE PROCESSED UNTIL 3.0 IS RELEASED.  2.x passcodes
  44. will still be processed as they are received.

  46. Remember, you needed to register each of your servers individually.  The
  47. MailWatch license only entitles you to a single instance of MailWatch to
  48. run in your organization for a single server.

  50. Unregistered servers will still be processed but the registration notice will
  51. be presented for each server.

  53. NEW PRICING POLICY
  54. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  55. MailWatch 3.0 is officially under the governing of Affirmative Computer
  56. Systems.  The price, therefore, will be raised slightly to cover additional
  57. taxes and overhead to process each order (subject to general acceptance and
  58. flames).  The new price will raise to $49.00 U.S. but you can still order
  59. version 2.x at the original $39.00 and receive the free upgrade.  Orders
  60. for 2.x MUST be accompanied by a 2.x registration page to get the $39.00
  61. price break.

  63. NEW FEATURES OF 3.x
  64. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  65. MailWatch 3.x is a totally new product, separate from 2.x.  The entire
  66. product is being re-written using new libraries and procedures to help
  67. facilitate some of the heavily requested features.  No release date has been
  68. set but an unofficial goal is to have at least the beta version available by
  69. mid August.  I apologize to those who have been patiently waiting for the
  70. new version.  In late May, it was decided that the version 2.x code would not
  71. be able to support the features requested and thus was scrapped in the hopes
  72. of being able to provide a better product.

  74. Version 3.x will be able to provide all the same abilities as 2.x with the
  75. addition of the following:
  76.  
  77. - New PMAIL-LIKE interface for developing .INI file settings and running
  78.   the application interactively.  Full context sensitive help will be built
  79.   in.
  80. - Support for MHS with all the same abilities of Pegasus support.
  81. - User definable signature and header files for returned mail.
  82. - Support for listing and deleting attachments.
  83. - Better report writer.  Reports will be sortable on a number of keys.
  84. - Auto-rerouting of MHS messages.  MHS messages can be picked up and sent
  85.   to any PMail recipient including via CHARON/MERCURY gateways to unix hosts.
  86. - Support for expired mail will be added (if David decides to support it and
  87.   the list does not blow up again :-)).
  88. - Various other additions and ideas to be announced later.

  91. the development.
